LIIT (Low Impact Interval Training)

I don’t do LIIT because I’m going to make money, I also HATE getting up early!

I do LIIT because I’ve been told by my doctor I could break a hip within 5 years after a bone density test about 18months ago!!!

Resistance training is especially important for peri-menopausal and post-menopausal women because of the hormonal changes that affect nearly every system in the body.

Here’s why it’s a game-changer:

1. Combats Muscle Loss

Estrogen levels decline during menopause, which accelerates sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss). Resistance training helps maintain and build muscle, keeping you strong and independent.

2. Protects Bone Health

Women lose bone density rapidly post-menopause, increasing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Lifting weights or doing bodyweight exercises stimulates bone growth and keeps your skeleton strong.

3. Reduces Belly Fat

Hormonal shifts can cause more fat to settle around the abdomen. Resistance training boosts metabolism and targets visceral fat, improving your body composition and heart health.

4. Improves Mood & Mental Health

Strength training has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, which can spike during peri-menopause. It also helps with brain fog and improves sleep.

5. Boosts Metabolism

Muscle burns more calories at rest than fat. Building and maintaining muscle helps prevent the metabolic slowdown that often comes with menopause.

6. Supports Joint Health & Pain Reduction

Stronger muscles take pressure off joints—important for women with arthritis or joint replacements. It can reduce pain and inflammation, especially with a smart, supportive program.

7. Enhances Balance & Reduces Fall Risk

As we age, balance and coordination decline. Resistance training—especially functional movements—improves stability and prevents falls.

8. Empowerment & Confidence

There’s something deeply empowering about feeling strong. Resistance training helps many women reconnect with their bodies, build confidence, and feel in control during a time of big changes.

So when I bang on about resistance training it’s because I want us, me & you to live physically well in the future.
